- TheHumbleFellow: I'm surprised no one ever talks about New Kidney on the Block. It's a surprisingly heartfelt episode, especially for a show like Family Guy. Plus, the scenes where Peter discovers Red Bull are just glorious.
- actionvolcano: Imo, one episode that flies WAY under the radar is a fairly recent one, "forget me not" When i first watched it it insantly became one of my favourites for just how clever the plot was, but NO ONE seems to talk about it. (Its the one where they get in a car accident and all have amnesia, plus are the only people on earth, and then think peter is an alien who killed everyone)

Peter's love for Lois and fear of losing her is very believable and actually affected me emotionally. He also has some of his funniest moments of stupidity in this episode, especially in one the funniest repeated joke sequences I've ever seen in this show so far.

One of the most creative episode of Family Guy 4: Chitty Chitty Death Bang: Nice to see everyone gather to Stewie's birthday. 3: Petarded: Extremely hilarious episode that I was shocked not to see on your list. 2: The Thin White Line\Brian Goes Hollywood: Brian is likeable and not overly jerky. It also shows that Brian cares toward his family, and the episode is funny 1!: PTV: I love how the writers of Family Guy poke fun at censors and The FCC. The song is amazing, The epic intro, and the episode is funny and clever. This is one of the funniest episodes of Family Guy ever, and totally defines what Family Guy is all about

Though I will admit Family Guy has indeed gone downhill the last couple of years (Just like the Simpsons....oye).

- Attempted Entertainment: My number 1 spot for best Family Guy episode is actually shared between 'Road to the North Pole' simply for how cinematic it is, the songs and how Stewie and Brian's good intentions do turn to murder. It's classic and easily one of the best Christmas Specials made. The other episode holding this spot is an odd choice but it's 'The Simpsons Guy'. It brings out the best of what the Family Guy cast have to offer and manages to nail The Simpsons better than recent seasons of the actual show. Nothing felt like a knock-off. Considering what a huge task that was, they absolutely nailed it.

Badger: I love the older episodes and that you realize the many flaws in the new ones, like how they almost completely rely on cutaways, how all the characters are stereotypes and so are the jokes, how Peter hates his family despite the show being called family guy, and how they always and things in JUST so that they can criticize it

For Untold Story, they even admitted it in another episode that it was just 3 episodes back to back. I wouldn't call it an actual movie. And as for I Dream of Jesus. While I did like that particular Surfin Bird scene in the kitchen. That gag was overused throughout the entire episode. Got a bit annoying eventually.
- Bennett Huntley: Tell me is really really worth to keep a show on the air just for the hope they make one or two good episodes when the others will make you mad or upset. Family Guy main problem is that it thinks it can do Black comedy which they can't. It strong at making fun of something that stupid that most people think other wise like Pray for illness to go away.

- TPYT Productions: Old Family Guy was the best. After about the 7th season, the episodes really started to degrade in value. They aren't even funny anymore. The jokes are really messed up, but not in a way that makes them even remotely funny. Shows like South Park make the most pressing of issues and topics, no matter how serious or messed up, funny. Family Guy is more of a messed up drama show now. I don't even consider a majority of the new episodes as adult comedy

It earns points for the unique way it portrays Christmas and ruining the magic with a dash of logic, but that does that make it funny? Hardly. Being a late-season episode, it's tainted with shock imagery, and that awful home invasion scene is depressing. I didn't come away from that episode learning anything at all, because at the end of the day, Santa Claus isn't real anyway, minimizing the whole message and making the episode seem dark for the sake of being dark.

Next to Peter, Brian has become my least favourite character in later seasons. Its a veeery different heart to the show now than what it started as, with no greater good behind endless shock scenes.

But what sets it apart is the unusual amount of drama in it, it's one of a handful of episodes where I've felt an emotional connection to one of the characters. Brian, Meg and Stewie are the only character I can feel for in Family guy and they really take it to new heights in this one. I actually felt Stewie and Brian have a real relationship that doesn't have any hateful under tones, the only one in the show I feel

My favorite episode is an obscure choice, and it does have a pretty long title, but its one with a great balance of humor and heartbreak. Brian Wallows and Peter's Swallows. Even whatever demented demographic of today's Family Guy should watch it. SPOILERS After Brian gets busted for intoxicated driving, (Bound to happen, I guess) he is sentenced to community service, by which I mean caring for a bitter senior citizen. It's not long, however, that Brian finds a doccumentary about this woman's past, reaches out to her and even saves her life. It gets to a point of legitimate intimacy as Brian sings about Pearl finding the will to live again. And then there's a subplot about Peter growing a beard, which ends up being used as a nest for a bird. By the time the bird leaves, it has left three infants in its nest, which Peter... surprisingly bonds with. Yes, this subplot is also really, really heartwarming. But tradgedy strikes for both these plots, as Pearl is hit by a truck and Peter's birds are ready to fly, but Peter doesn't want to let them go. The resolution of both these plots connect perfectly, and are both very tearjerking. As Pearl dies, she and Brian share a Virtual Reality dream of a peaceful life, and Peter says goodbye to the birds he calls his own kids. While this episode doesn't actually have as many comedic moments as the ones on this list, sometimes you don't have to be funny to be memorable. But it's not just because this is played straight. It's that it plays it straight with dignity, making this one of my most memorable episodes from Season 3 of Family Guy.

After a heated argument between the 2 (even some punches being traded), both cool down long enough for Brian to say this- Brian: If you can answer this question honestly, then I'll apologize for everything I done. Tell me without he slightest hint of sarcasm, why didn't you call me out earlier? Quagmire: What you mean? Brian: Don't you remember what happened at the restaurant? You bitched at everything I done, which only brings up a good question, "If you hated me so much, why didn't you say something before?" Quagmire: Does it really matter? Brian: It matters to me. & here is my 2nd idea. After an incident with Brian's estranged father, Quagmire finally tries to get along with Brian. Peter takes his family, Cleveland's family & Joe's family to a video game convention (as you expected, hi-jinks ensue). Brian & Quagmire stay behind in order to heal the rift between themselves. Brian comes up with a bunch of ideas to get along, while Quagmire also comes up with a bunch of ideas too. In a brilliant move Quagmire decides to out their ideas on pieces of paper & put those pieces of paper in a bingo ball roller. After days of doing everything they can think of, Quagmire apologizes to Brian for beating him up after making out with his dad. Brian in turn apologizes for insulting his niece at Christmas. It seems like the hatred between the 2 is finally gone...however a misunderstanding between the 2 reignites, their hatred for each other. Brian: What was the point of us trying to get along, if we were going to hate each other in the end? Quagmire: I don't know & honestly I don't care. (Quagmire is walking away, stops & says) Brian you know when I said "I apologize for beating you up"? I meant every word I said. (then it cuts to the credits)

- Tyr Wulf: Fantastic list. To be honest I kind of fell off on watching Family Guy after Brian is a Bad Father and that one episode with the joke where Peter kills a whale with a forklift. I still watch it occasionally, probably for the reason you gave, hoping to see a moment of brilliance, but for the most part the show has become too disgusting and depressing to watch. Hearing that Seth wants it to end probably explains why.

Plus the Brain and Stewie road episodes are always the best and the journey to the North Pole is the funniest and most beautifully animated journey of all. I am very young to even be watching Family Guy in some adults eyes but every joke make me laugh to the point it hurts. I'm not that big of a fan of past seasons where the art isn't the solid art form like today and use to just skip them altogether but when I would watch them, they were way funnier then the new ones. Family Guy is what started my interest on Star Wars to begin with because of it's funny and great jokes and parody. Even at time s when I sing the theme in class 3-5 other students will join in with me. Family Guy can be great and funny and this video can pretty much sum it up.

- Isabelle Stanley: I don't remember the episode name but I recently watched one where grifen starts dating a black girl but her dad doesn't like that so he makes her break up with him. While I was watching it I was just waiting for them to do something stupid or insensitive but they never did and they took the issue very seriously. And made a point to show both sides of the situation like how the only reason why he didn't want his daughter to date him is because all his life he's been mistreated by white people and he wants to protect his daughter from that. But his character learns a lesson and people are changing and becoming more accepting and interracial dating is okay. And he's come to learn that just because your this skin color or that doesn't automatically mean your like that stereotype. So that's an amazing lesson and teaches kids how to be open minded. That's the kind of lessons shows should try to teach because they never know what kind of an impact they can have on someone who's watching.

The actual distinction isn't always clear enough and such distinctions maybe arent best left to the viewing public or intent and more importantly for TV shows effect can be lost.

Peter used to be so incredibly stupid, that he didn't realise it when he was hurting orthers, so even his selfish, hurtful moments had a certain charm to it. He was a good guy and had his good moments. Nowadays it seems the character Peter Griffin is fully aware of what he is doing. - Mikael Ulibarri: What about "Brian & Stewie"? I mean he he said say he enjoys episodes from the early and mid seasons and everyone he listed is a gem. But " Brian & Stewie" was an episode that groundbreaking for Family Guy that totally caught people off guard. Literally a full episode with no music, no subplots, no cutaways, no theme opening, and no characters other than Brian & Stewie, stuck together in a bank vault and they have no choice but to wait to be let out. While "And Then There Were Fewer" was like a movie, this episode is like an experience, as these see these two characters desperately involved with nobody but each other. Along with some filler gross-out moments, we get compelling character depth we've never seen before and definitely one of the most hard core heartfelt moments Seth MacFarlane has ever put on the show. When it ended, my jaw just dropped at what what what I witnessed: a serious Family Guy episode that did so much with so little. This is one I definitely recommend.

Quagmire, as seen in the scenes shown here, keeps Asian sex slaves. How is he a nice guy? He films meg on the toilet, making him a pedophile. How can anyone root for any of the characters, if taken seriously? Furthermore, you condemn in your worst 10 the jokes on domestic violence. If the seriousness of the crime is any factor for condemning the "bad taste", than human traffic and slavery should be in the same ball part.

South Park is a prime example of how to offend in the right way. I'm certainly not waiting for it to get better. I'm waiting for it to finally die, so it can stop soiling the earlier (still brilliant) seasons by association.

- muvdafukupouttahere: I gave up on Family Guy ever since the seventh season. It got even more repugnant to a point where it was easily compatible to The Nutshack. While there were a few good episodes in the later seasons, many of the horrible episodes heavily outweighed them effortlessly. The characters became despicable, the jokes were plain stale and unfunny, and most of the writing became extremely lazy. Liked FG in the earlier seasons, was pretty neutral on the 4-6th seasons, then everything went downhill after that. Stewie is pretty much the only character that is genuinely likable anymore. I kind of feel sorry for Seth since he really wanted this show to end, and despite that, he still takes so much shit from rabid FG haters, who blame Seth on everything, ignoring the fact that he hasn't written a single episode for this show in a long time. So the best we could do is just simply enjoy the earlier seasons (as well as the few good episodes of the later seasons) and remember the charm they had, because this show has long overstayed its welcome. Great list BTW. I love every last episode shown in this video. :)

Only major problem I have is that I would've placed Road to the North Pole as #2. Coming so many years after the Rhode Island episode, the animation is better, the extended time spent on the episode allows for more gags and jokes, it honestly has one of the best and most important messages out of any episode in the series, which every that celebrates Christmas can relate to. It's probably the episode that I re-watch the most.

- Ima Pseudonym: I actually quite liked the 'Star Trek' subplot. Stewie annoyed at not getting good questions answered ends up shepherding a group of irritating and mundane people around. Don't meet your heroes. I can understand wanting more of a Star Trek episode but as a sub-plot I think it worked reasonably well. In the main story I see the biggest flaw (off the top of my head at any rate) as: -Having Meg completely turn away from her new beliefs at the end especially for such shallow reasons. Admittedly she only seemed to join for the sake of thinking someone gave a damn about her so it's contextual but it was moronic as swaying arguments go. I think the story could almost have been well rounded if Meg finished the episode with faith clearly still strong but with less fundamentalism and a readiness to accept Brian's atheism and save third grade logic books. By having her revert completely it vindicates what to me could otherwise have been more lighthearted or harmless jokes by themselves. Most of the time (though it's not clear here) I think that Brian seems preachy but it's not really the aim. I see Brian as often being a caricature of 'liberal left-wing contrarian self-righteous rationalists' and rather than being the voice of reason every time he is a bit of a dick who just gives counterpoint. At best if he is an avatar for Seth he's happy to admit he may be as flawed as anyone else (see Quagmire's rant for an example). Stewie does challenge the contradiction later, saying "Jesus lived with us for, like, a week. What else do you need?" Maybe this again paints Brian as an obstinate ass who is just as much a fundamentalist who assumes to know too much without proper consideration. I imagine the episode is targeted more at the wackier evangelists and fundamentalists who are amusing enough in real life anyway. Mockery is perhaps more valuable then we might think as a tool to get people to question things but perhaps should be handled more subtly. For instance there does seem to be a worrying level of distrust towards atheists by many in America, and you do wonder whether politicians for example are indeed forced to pretend to have faith or stronger faith for the sake of acceptance. These are things worthy of commentary, but having the whole community turn on Brian probably isn't the best way of doing so As for Meg being traumatised towards religion in the first place I guess it is an uncomfortable idea but the weak do seem to be targeted, not least in (overblown but present) attempts to convert people on deathbeds as if it is a favour to them. I admit there may be an uncomfortable truth in trauma pushing people to religion, but again would have been happier if Meg had simply found a healthy balance of self-affirming, personal, non-aggressive religion at the end. Sorry this is so disjointed, wanted to reply to many separate points made.

That is one of my favorite episodes and I would watch it over and over again. - Simplyric: My favorite episodes are usually the Brian-centric ones (my favorite character). Dog Gone, Brian's Play, and Brian & Stewie are my top 3, because you get a brief look at Brian's darker side, and, to me, it's interesting to see a usually-lighthearted, satirical, comedy cartoon revolve around the emotional despair that one of its characters become susceptible too. While his arrogance can be annoying, I feel that he is more relatable to us than what we're willing to admit. I say that because my take on his character is: someone who believes they are much more intelligent than they actually are, while ignorant to the reality that their idealism has blinded them to; yet suddenly, an epiphany/continuous buildup (Brian failing to convince everyone that a dog's life matters, Stewie's play being much better than Brian's, and Brian opening up about suicide after Stewie's persistent asking) shatters their ego and sends them into a downward spiral of pessimism and feelings of hopelessness/worthlessness. I feel like lots of us, whether we'll acknowledge it or not, are, in a way, similar. We become a bit too self-indulgent, get knocked down by someone/thing, and then recede into this negative state (hopefully learning from it). In my personal opinion..._that_ is a well-written character.

I believe *that* is the reason the episode is so universally disliked, because if it actually made a good argument for atheism, there would be people who liked the episode, because they'd sympathise with that side One more point about "Not All Dogs..." I feel is relevant to say, is this- it's a complete hypocrisy from a religious standpoint, and I'll tell you why this is so: Earlier in the same season was the episode "I Dream of Jesus", in which Christ came to Earth, and the Griffins met him Brian has literally seen Jesus, and it's the bona fide proof that Jesus and God, in the context of Family Guy, are 'real' characters, and not just throwaway characters for jokes, as they were in the past This further damns "Not All Dogs.." in that, "I Dream of Jesus" presents two choices that both seem like a Mexican standoff. -The episode is contradicting itself from earlier in the series, by claiming that God and Jesus do not exist, when in fact, in the Family Guy universe, they actually do. Family Guy usually has strong continuity, and "I Dream of Jesus" must certainly be an acknowledged episode, since the Surfing Bird song gag from that episode has been reused in future episode. This means you can't claim the creators don't recognise or don't acknowledge that episode. -For the episode to not contradict itself, it can only mean that yes, it's *our* God and Jesus that Brian is talking about, as in, the ones from our real world Bible. Here's the salt in the wound: character-wise, it runs Brian through a wood chipper, and I'll explain how and why: Because the episode insists in the end that Brian is right and Meg is wrong, the resolution is that he has completely crushed a young lady's hope and happiness, her motivation and drive. You could argue that "He's saving her from nutjobs who burn books and spout psalms incessantly", but in reality, that's just the salt you've rubbed into your own wound you created, as a result of refusing to depict any Christians as sensible, because if you did, Brian wouldn't come across as a hero or saviour. Sorry for the length, but I guess the episode really has that much wrong with it, although I suspect you knew this?

- Brett Quimby: I know that I'm late to making a comment on this PhantomStrider, but there was a time where Family Guy was a great show. My favorite had to be Stuck Together, Torn Apart. I loved Peter trying to preserve Lois' affection for him and Brian and Stewie trying to navigate life with their hands glued together. Sadly, out of all the shows that have endured seasonal rot, Family Guy has hit it the worst. Spongebob, South Park, and The Simpsons may have had moments of weakness, but I still think the three of them should live.

- Dillon Haggett: I loved the Road to Multiverse episode. I thought they did a great job with all the different universes they went to. I didn't even realise there was no cut away gags. The Stewie Griffin The Untold a Story wasn't that great. I found some funny moments but overall the episode/movie wasn't that great to me. Hmmm I didn't find Airport '07 that great. Granted I haven't watched it for a while but I remember I didn't enjoy it very much. The scene of Quagmire picturing all the inanimate objects as women. Brian Sings and Swings was ok but not that great. I did like the ending especially the way Frank Sinatra Jr's quote "Dammit all." Haven't watched North By North Quahog for a long time. Again I haven't watched From Method to Madness for a long time but I do remember it being a good episode. Blue Harvest was very funny and the two sequels are also very good episodes. I found the whole Han Solo wanting the couch funny too. Also hated the first portion of I Dreamed of Jesus.

And that was from the most recent season. Yeah, not all the episodes this past season were gems, but that opening with "The Simpsons" and "Family Guy" was outstanding! I also really liked another episode from recent seasons. It was called "Yug Ylimaf" That is "Family Guy" backwards. It was a hilarious episode where all of time was going backwards.

- cartoonswim: You know, what you said of Road to Rhode Island reminds me of the biggest reason why Herpe The Love Sore hurt so much-Brian used to be kind and caring, and he used to have a very believable love-hate relationship with Stewie. Now, he's given Stewie an STD. And this was portrayed as graphically as possible, and for some reason the FCC didn't bat an eye. No character has ever before gone through more derailment than Brian... At this point, the only way that Brian can go back to what he once was is if there's a complete change in staff, because the new writers clearly aren't competent in the slightest.

I first thought that they will make it very childish and cram so many jokes in that it upright kills the episode *cough season 14* but no they took a very adult and mature look on it. They could have gone all out and made it a very pretchy and bias episode just picking one side but they focused on both the for and against side and why both sides are wrong and right. They even showed how one side can go to the extreme to get what they want and brainwash the simple individual 'Peter Griffin' to get them on their side which I think is a very realistic look on what people think about abortion. I don't think it's the funniest episode but I do think it's the most mature and cleverly written episodes to date. And Peter's reaction when he found out one of Lois' exes was a woman was priceless.

- Adam Kalb: #JOLO is one great Family Guy episode that came after this video came out. Any flanderization over the years seems to have vanished in this episode, and it also told a story about suicide and helping someone miserable get happy memories better than Spongebob Squarepants did in 1 Coarse Meal and Are You Happy Now. It also had some good cutaway jokes and not too much mean-spirited stuff (besides Quagmkre saying "you could have brought us to Disney World and shot yourself in the room"), so it's not like The Simpsons Guy is the only good or best thing to come out of that season, since The Book of Joe was another good episode that came out the week after. It's beautiful, deep, emotional, happy, and that's not the spirit of Family Guy. Family Guy is shocking, gross, politically incorrect and mean (well, with boundaries, not like the recent ones), and Road To Rhode Island is a AWESOME episode, but I think it deserve the 2nd or 3rd place. FIrst place, in my opinion, could be: North by North Quahog, PTV, Family Gay or Partial terms of endearment.
- Cameron Dean: For me, Family Guy has been a hit and miss show recently. I mean, in between the absolutely unnecessary graphic violence, there are some good jokes and light hearted moments. Even the serious moments can be pretty good, and actually continue good character development. There still are some pretty bad moments in Family Guy nowadays, but every once in awhile, there's still some positive messages and lighthearted jokes that made Family Guy popular in the first place.

- Chip Bruin: Honestly, I've been enjoying the newer seasons. Obviously there are the infamously bad episodes that have come out, but besides those, I still enjoy the show. One of my favorite episodes definitely is Brian and Stewie. It should be used as an example for when Family Guy wants to make an episode with a serious moral at the end, and I honestly think it may have served as inspiration for "Send In Stewie, Please", which is my favorite episode of Season 16. Just the way they handle the message they're trying to send in those two episodes (with no cutaways, and the jokes being realistic as to how they'd be told in a real life situation, such as the mention of what Stewie's Christmas gifts to others were). They're heartwarming episodes, and they can make you uncomfortable, but in the best, most emotionally driven way.

- Grifter Wolf: As twisted as it was; "Life of Brian" had stapled itself in my mind as one of the most poignant episodes of the later seasons. Even though there are hints of Stewie going forward in time to Christmas as a gateway to recant the events of the episode, even though two episodes later the wrongs of this episode are righted, I still get teary-eyed, both when Brian dies, and Peter's words in his eulogy. It was by far the most emotional episode and Seth McFarlane is either really sadistic, or incredibly brilliant for it. I still wish that they could have Vinny in the series again though, maybe as a side character. But it is what it is :) I haven't seen the latest season yet since it's not on Netflix, but it definitely reassured me that Family Guy will be around for a long time.

All the jokes are done well, and it manages to show how ridiculous censorship can be. 4: Road To The Multiverse: Creative visuals really made this one a good one 3: Back To The Pilot: The best modern family guy episode. Some argue that the moral behind this is bad, but not all cartoons have to have a moral behind them. They can, but it isn't always necessary. This episode showed that Family Guy can still be good if they put their minds up to the task. 2. Brian Wallows and Peter Swallows: I really like this one because Brian finds somebody he can truly connect with, and is not a pretentious jerk. The side plot is also good (An endangered bird lands in a beard that peter is growing and lays eggs and Peter becomes attached to the little chicks.) This episode manages to deal with moving on well, and manages to get a few laughs while doing so. 1. Road to Rhode Island: The best episode out of the series because it started the whole Stewie and Brian trend up, and had one of the best songs in the series. A really funny and memorable episode that I still watch today, I wish there was more episodes like this.
